SEL addresses 5 competencies that help individuals to manage their social and emotional wellbeing effectively.

  1. Self-Awareness

  2. Self-management

  3. Social Awareness

  4. Relationship Skills

  5. Responsible decision making

These competencies are designed to provide a mapwork to navigate through in the learning process and help students and adults benefit from the same by understanding them well and applying them effectively in their day-to-day lives.

Nurturing these core competencies within individual students through social and emotional learning is a healthy and rewarding process that can subsequently have a positive effect on the wellbeing of the individuals. The interconnectedness of these competencies reflects how each competency influences others and work towards the overall development of an individual in his/ her social-emotional learning domain.
